From Doubt to Dusk to Dawn: A Landscape Photographer's Journey of Self-Discovery

Returning to my passion for landscape photography after a hiatus wasn't easy. I felt out of practice and unsure if my images were good enough. Friends and family encouraged me to share and even sell my work, but I lacked the confidence.

One day, I decided to take a leap of faith and launched my website, dljphotography.co.uk. To my surprise and delight, the positive feedback poured in! Not just from friends and family, but from total strangers on Instagram and through my website.

That positive reinforcement gave me the courage to create a shop on my website. A few prints sold, then, to my astonishment, the first calendar I created sold out by Christmas! I'm now putting the finishing touches on my second calendar, which should be ready for eager buyers by September or October.

The journey doesn't stop there. I'm excited about leading photo walks to share my knowledge and passion, and potentially even beginner workshops to help people move beyond phone cameras and discover the joys of dedicated photography. I

My biggest challenge at the moment is my first book, "Dusk to Dawn." It's in proof now, but that old self-doubt is creeping back in. I'm working on finding the confidence to have it printed and put it out into the world.

I'm also considering an exhibition of my work, but I'm unsure if there would be enough interest. If I were to do it, I wonder how many days I should have it on for?

As a landscape photographer, I'm passionate about sharing the joy of capturing nature's beauty. I am thinking of offering. camera rentals to those curious about photography, providing a chance to explore this artistic journey without a large initial investment. My rental service includes a high-quality cameras and lenses. suitable for beginners. It's a fantastic opportunity to experiment with different styles, learn the fundamentals, and discover whether photography is a passion worth pursuing further. I'm also available to offer guidance and support, helping renters get the most out of their photographic experience.
This whole experience has taught me so much about perseverance, the importance of community, and the power of sharing your work, even when it feels vulnerable. It's been a journey of self-discovery, and I'm incredibly grateful for every step, every click of the shutter, and every person who has supported me along the way.

So, here's to taking chances, embracing imperfections, and continuing to create. After all, the beauty of landscape photography lies not just in the final image, but in the journey it takes to get there.
